The
Bethlehem star, a symbol of the Lehigh Valley, is also a symbol
of the O'Grady-Quinlan
Academy. It is an affirmation of our connection to and admiration
for our community. This region, with its deep cultural richness
and Irish roots, has given much to
our dancers and our art form. We value
the support that institutions and individuals in the community
have given to us for so many, many years.
That is why involvement
in such annual events
as Celtic Classic, Musikfest and Mayfair is so important.
In addition
to helping us develop us dancers and performers, these events
allow us
to connect
with our
community and its cultural fabric in a meaningful way. And with
each
dance step, our students contribute to making that fabric even
brighter
and stronger.
We feel a particular connection
to those less fortunate in our community. Our students regularly
perform at nursing homes, benefits and charities in the area.
It is a simple recognition of our common humanity, and an appreciation
for the power of healing and happiness that a group of gifted,
smiling dancers can bring to even the most needy.
